How Long Does It Last? Our Binchotan charcoal is good for a period of 6 months. After about three months, the stick of charcoal should be boiled to help it get rid of the ions and toxins it will have collected, and you can then use it for three more months. Boil the piece of charcoal for about 10 minutes. Leave it to air-dry in a sunlit area. Your charcoal will be good for another 3 months after this process. Afterwards, just put it in your wardrobe, your fridge to get rid of odors or humidity, or by sticking it in your potted plants. This will help with water retention at the foot of your plants. Or you can even use it as compost!
