Code.org® is a non-profit dedicated to expanding participation in computer science by making it available in more schools, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented students of color. Our vision is that every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer programming.
We believe computer science should be part of the core curriculum in education, alongside other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses, such as biology, physics, chemistry and algebra. Working with over 100 hundred partner organizations and expanding on educational best practices, Code.org's comprehensive approach represents the vanguard of effective integration of Computer Science (CS) into the core of public school education. Our long-term goals include:
Bringing CS classes to every K-12 school in the US, especially in urban and rural neighborhoods, by offering a robust teacher professional development (PD) program
Increasing the representation of women and students of color in the field of CS by harnessing the collective power of the tech community and engaging celebrities and role models to celebrate and grow CS education worldwide
