Save A Child's Heart is dedicated to fight Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) in children born in the developing world. The children we help are treated at the Wolfson Medical Centre and housed at the Legacy Heritage Children’s Home of Save a Child’s Heart, both located in Holon, Israel. They come from around the globe, where adequate medical care is simply unavailable.
Approximately 50% of the children are from the Palestinian Authority, Gaza, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, more than 30% are from Africa, and the remainder are from Asia, Eastern Europe and the Americas.
Save A Child’s Heart is a team of 70 surgeons, cardiologists, physicians, technicians and nurses at the Wolfson Hospital in Tel Aviv, Israel. They are Jewish, Christian and Moslem and have carried out many teaching missions to 18 countries over the past 20 years. They have also brought to Israel and trained 110 surgeons, cardiologists, physicians and nurses from developing countries in the advanced techniques of open heart surgery, anaesthesia and intensive care. They make no charge for their time and have saved the lives of over 4300 children from 54 countries. Surgeries are carried out at no charge to the patients, the costs are covered by fundraisers across the globe.
By mending hearts, regardless of race, religion, gender, nationality, or financial status, we contribute to a more peaceful and productive world; a happier, healthier world, and a better world for all children, and their families.
The Wolfson Medical Centre also hosts a cardiology clinic every Tuesday for children from the Palestinian Authority. These children are referred to the Save a Child’s Heart program by a dozen cardiologists from throughout Gaza and the West Bank. The children arriving at this clinic are there for examination and evaluation and, pre and post operative care.
